Portman India Pvt. Limited has entered into a Joint Venture with U.K. based Nectar Group on the 1st October 2013. The JV was launched in the presence of British Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai, Mr. Mike Nithavrianakis on 01st October 2013.

Nectar is a U.K. based privately owned Group which was established in 1972. Nectar main activity is port related bulk handling and bagging, primarily the discharge of bulk, dry and free flowing commodities, such as grain, cereals, fertilizer, clinker and coal. Nectar also offers consultancy services, operational and technical management, maintenance of equipment and bulk handling facilities and design, development and refurbishment of Port Facilities for Handling Bulk Commodities.

Nectar is widely involved in international business, particularly in emerging markets of Africa, Central America where they have long-term agreements at a number of locations and a client base representing a listing of all the major international trading houses, leading aid agencies, concessionaire companies, ship-owners and Port Authorities.

Till date, Nectar has worked in some 150 locations in 75 countries worldwide and has handles over 7 million tons of cargo annually.

Nectar's The joint venture with Portman India Pvt. Ltd, styled as "Nectar Portman Private Limited" has been set up to target bulk handling terminals in India and SE Asia. With the ever growing bulk import & export volumes in India and SE Asia, the JV is fully poised to offer a wide range of services in the design, development, Operations & management of Ports and terminals. Ports and Terminal promoters can now outsource these functions to a professionally run, experienced and economical service provider while mitigating the risks involved thereby offering comfort to themselves and their Lenders.
